Published Articles
In 2009-2010 I created a local content site for Lubbock, Texas. The idea was based around the question that new residents often asked: “What’s there to do in Lubbock?” The name of the site was LubbocksBest.com and although now defunct, the Wayback Machine has saved several of the articles I’ve written here.
Near the end of the year-long experiment that was LubbocksBest.com, I was approached by a company from Shreveport, Louisiana to write for a monthly mailer they were starting in Lubbock. The mailer consisted of various articles about Lubbock, it’s people and life tips. Since it was a direct-to-mail piece it would only be available within the Lubbock area and had a short run. It was called Lubbock Metro-Leader and featured several of my articles. Some of them are edited versions of what I had on LubbocksBest.com.

When he meets Meghan, a young girl obsessed with music, he thinks nothing of her, until he’s hired to teach her guitar.

The 1980’s were a time of flash, drugs and excess of all kinds. Ted is into it until a “designer” drug twists his mind in horrific directions. His descent into madness, self-destruction and cannibalism goes virtually unnoticed by everyone except his sister.

Hometown, USA
Is the life of just one girl worth the destruction of an entire town?
That’s one of the questions asked in the manuscript, Hometown, USA. Set in the early 1970’s in a small Texas town, the girl in question is a black high schooler named Pearl Hickson, and she is already dead.
The story follows James Harrold, a small-town newspaper owner who is out of his element, and reluctant sheriff’s deputy Barry Pittsfield, as they attempt to solve Pearl’s murder – but the entire community of Brooks, Texas is against them. The deeper they dig, the dirtier the town becomes, and the higher tensions rise.
